The Changing Landscape

We’ve heard a lot in the past year or two about how attracting customers and long-term clients has slowly been changing. It used to be that a print and radio campaign would suffice to blast out a message – like throwing a net out into the sea – to see what we could drag in, but now that’s not as effective. Why? It’s simple, consumers  - people – are now plugged-in more than ever. They have the ability to be closer to their most trusted network of information and and advice, their friends and family,  than ever before and because of the web and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter this source of trusted information moves at light speed. So their perception of what’s normal, of how the world works, has changed. They expect everyone to be able to text, to take pictures on their phones and upload them to the world immediately. They expect to be able to log onto the web on their phones and get product information and product videos immediately. And they expect that information to be truthful and honest, because there are a hundred other places out in the web to check it out.

Here’s a great ad from MSN illustrating that point:Advertiser vs. Consumer from YouTube
